About the Client:
Our client is a leading business in Saudi Arabia (Eastern Province) who operate in the Oil & Gas industry. We are helping them to hire up to 12 Safety Officers.
You must be Saudi Aramco approved and available for offshore.
Job Summary:
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety programs and procedures to ensure a safe working environment in offshore oil and gas operations. This role involves conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and Aramco standards.
Responsibilities:
- Safety Program Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and Aramco requirements.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
- Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (HIRA) to identify potential safety hazards.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and control measures.
- Investigate and report on safety incidents and near misses.
- Safety Inspections and Audits:
- Conduct regular safety inspections of offshore platforms, rigs, and vessels.
- Perform safety audits to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
- Monitor and enforce permit-to-work (PTW) systems.
- Training and Development:
- Deliver safety training to personnel on safety procedures, emergency response, and hazard awareness (including H2S awareness).
- Ensure all personnel are trained and certified in relevant safety courses (e.g., BOSIET, STCW, PST).
- Maintain training records.
- Emergency Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
- Conduct emergency drills and exercises.
- Act as a key member of the emergency response team.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed safety records, including inspection reports, incident reports, and training records.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to management and client representatives.
- Use digital tools and software for recording and reporting data.
- Liaison and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Provide safety advice and guidance to project personnel.
- Liaise with Aramco safety representatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Essential Certifications: NEBOSH, BOSIET, IOSH, H2S Awareness, PTW, STCW, PST.
- Required SA Aramco approval for offshore.
- 5-10 years of experience in occupational health and safety, with at least 3-5 years of experience in offshore safety operations.
- Strong knowledge of offshore safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using safety software and tools.
