They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Big Data Engineer to provide technical leadership and drive their big data initiatives.
Job Summary:
The Senior Big Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining highly scalable and robust big data infrastructure to support the company's complex smart city projects. This individual will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure the delivery of high-performance data solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of big data technologies, extensive experience with cloud platforms, and excellent communication skills in both English and Arabic.
Responsibilities:
- Big Data Architecture & Design:
- Design and implement complex big data architectures for smart city applications.
- Lead the development of scalable and reliable data infrastructure using cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices.
- Evaluate and recommend new big data technologies and tools.
- Ensure the security and integrity of big data systems.
- Data Pipeline Development & Optimization:
- Lead the design and development of high-performance ETL/ELT processes for large-scale data integration and transformation.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Implement and manage streaming data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming).
- Develop and maintain data APIs for seamless data access and integration.
- Implement advanced data quality and validation procedures.
- Data Warehousing & Analytics:
- Design and implement data warehousing solutions for complex analytical workloads.
- Develop and maintain data models for business intelligence and reporting.
- Implement data governance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to support advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
- Lead the development of data visualization and reporting solutions.
- Smart City Data Strategy & Implementation:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy for smart city applications.
- Define and manage data governance and security policies for smart city data.
- Lead the development of data solutions for traffic management, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and citizen services.
- Ensure the integration of data from various smart city sensors and IoT devices.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the big data engineering team.
- Mentor and train junior engineers.
- Lead code reviews and ensure code quality.
- Contribute to architectural design and technical decision-making.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in both Arabic and English.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, software developers, and project managers.
- Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical updates.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Big Data Engineer.
- Extensive experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Deep understanding of database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases).
- Expertise in ETL/ELT tools and data warehousing technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
- Experience with data modelling, architecture, and governance.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Fluent in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
