They are seeking a skilled and experienced Marine Engineer with a specialization in renewable energy to contribute to their innovative projects.
Job Summary:
The Marine Engineer (Renewable Energy Focus) will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of marine renewable energy projects, specifically focusing on wave, tidal, and offshore wind energy systems. This individual will apply their expertise in marine engineering principles to design and optimize marine renewable energy technologies, ensuring their integration with existing offshore infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of marine renewable energy systems, experience in the oil & gas industry, and excellent communication skills in English.
Responsibilities:
- Marine Renewable Energy System Design & Development:
- Design and develop marine renewable energy systems, including wave energy converters, tidal turbines, and offshore wind platforms.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for marine renewable energy projects.
- Perform hydrodynamic and structural analysis of marine renewable energy devices.
- Select and evaluate marine renewable energy equipment and components.
- Develop detailed technical drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM).
- Integration with Offshore Infrastructure:
- Design and implement the integration of marine renewable energy systems with existing offshore oil & gas platforms and infrastructure.
- Develop and manage subsea cable routing and installation plans.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of marine renewable energy systems in offshore environments.
- Collaborate with offshore operations teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Hydrodynamic & Structural Analysis:
- Utilize hydrodynamic and structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS AQWA, OrcaFlex) for marine renewable energy system design.
- Develop and calibrate numerical models for wave-structure interaction and structural integrity.
- Analyze the impact of environmental conditions (waves, currents, tides) on marine renewable energy systems.
- Perform fatigue and stress analysis of marine structures.
- Project Management & Execution:
- Manage and oversee marine renewable energy projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
- Conduct site inspections and monitor installation progress.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Technical Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations related to marine renewable energy projects.
- Document project designs, calculations, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate project records and data.
- Develop and maintain databases of marine renewable energy data.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams in English.
- Collaborate with other engineers and scientists to develop integrated energy solutions.
- Provide technical training and support.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field with a focus on Renewable Energy.
- 5-10 years of experience as a Marine Engineer, preferably in the oil & gas or renewable energy industry.
- Strong knowledge of marine renewable energy systems and technologies.
- Experience with hydrodynamic and structural analysis software (ANSYS AQWA, OrcaFlex).
- Understanding of offshore operations and infrastructure.
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English.
Essential Skills:
