Job Summary:
The Construction Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and management of civil engineering construction projects in Dubai, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and green building practices. This individual will leverage their extensive experience to ensure projects are delivered safely, within budget, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards, while minimizing environmental impact. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of civil engineering construction principles, extensive experience in the UAE construction industry, and a demonstrated commitment to sustainable construction.
Responsibilities:
- Project Management & Planning (Sustainability Focus):
- Lead and manage all aspects of civil engineering construction projects, integrating sustainable practices from initial planning to final handover.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, with a focus on cost-effective sustainable solutions.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed construction plans, specifications, and method statements, incorporating green building materials and techniques.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements, including local and international sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, Estidama).
- Manage and mitigate project risks, with a focus on environmental impact assessment and mitigation.
- Site Management & Supervision (Green Building):
- Supervise and coordinate the work of subcontractors, engineers, and site personnel, ensuring adherence to sustainable construction practices.
- Ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved plans and specifications, including green building designs.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks, with a focus on sustainable material usage and waste management.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, including those related to environmental protection.
- Resolve technical issues and provide on-site solutions, prioritizing sustainable alternatives.
- Contract Management & Administration (Sustainability):
- Manage and administer construction contracts, with a focus on sustainable procurement and material sourcing.
- Monitor and control project costs and variations, including those related to green building technologies.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and payment applications, highlighting sustainable construction achievements.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities, including those related to environmental permits and certifications.
- Ensure that all documentation is completed to the required standards, including sustainability reports.
- Resource Management (Sustainable Practices):
- Manage and allocate construction equipment, materials, and labour resources, prioritizing sustainable options.
- Optimize resource utilization and minimize waste, implementing recycling and reuse strategies.
- Ensure that all resources are used efficiently and effectively, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.
- Maintain accurate records of all resource usage, including sustainability metrics.
- Communication & Collaboration (Sustainability Advocacy):
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams in English, advocating for sustainable construction practices.
- Prepare and present project progress reports and presentations, highlighting sustainability achievements and challenges.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project stakeholders, promoting sustainable solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of all project-related activities, including sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, with a focus on sustainable construction preferred.
- 10+ years of proven experience in managing civil engineering construction projects in the UAE, with a demonstrated focus on sustainability and green building.
- Extensive knowledge of civil engineering construction materials, techniques, and equipment, including sustainable alternatives.
- Strong understanding of local regulations and international standards related to construction and sustainability (e.g., LEED, Estidama).
- Proficiency in project management software and relevant engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, BIM), with experience in sustainability analysis tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on sustainable solutions.
- Valid UAE Driving License.
- Valid UAE Society of Engineers membership.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
