The Opportunity
Our client is a prominent European engineering consultancy known for its high-precision work on Swiss infrastructure. Their Chur-based office is a hub for regional and national projects, ranging from vital local utility upgrades to iconic bridge and transport developments. They are seeking a forward-thinking Technical Designer to join a collaborative team that bridges the gap between traditional civil engineering and the digital future of construction.
The Role
This position is designed for a professional who views drafting as a craft. You will be responsible for the technical visualization of complex structures, ensuring that engineering concepts are translated into flawless, executable plans.
Core Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Drafting: Create comprehensive CAD documentation for diverse civil projects, including road networks, rail systems, and utility infrastructure.
- Structural Detailing: Develop execution plans for complex engineering works such as bridges, retaining structures, and excavation shoring.
- Digital Modelling: Lead the 3D modelling and detailed planning phases, ensuring high-fidelity digital representations of infrastructure assets.
- Collaborative Design: Coordinate daily with project managers and specialist engineers to optimize construction designs.
- Project Support: Contribute technical expertise to the preparation of tender documents and competitive bids.
- Growth Opportunities: Depending on your career goals, you can take on additional responsibilities such as BIM coordination, technical team leadership, apprentice mentorship, or on-site construction management.
Your Professional Background
- Education: Completed Swiss vocational training (EFZ) as a Draftsman/Draftswoman in Civil Engineering (Zeichner Fachrichtung Ingenieurbau).
- Software Expertise: Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Civil3D, Allplan, or Cadwork.
- Experience: Proven track record in a comparable role within a structural or civil engineering environment.
- Digital Mindset: A strong affinity for BIM workflows; experience with programming or advanced visualization tools is a distinct advantage.
- Soft Skills: An ambitious, independent worker who thrives in a team-oriented, responsible environment.
Benefits & Culture
- Project Variety: Engagement in a broad spectrum of mandates, from boutique local assignments to large-scale national infrastructure.
- Work-Life Balance: A modern, results-driven work culture featuring flexible hours and robust home-office options.
- Professional Environment: Access to state-of-the-art office infrastructure and a collegial atmosphere with flat hierarchies.
- Career Development: A commitment to individual further education and the opportunity to help shape the digital standards of the team.
- Social Spirit: A friendly, welcoming team environment with regular office events and a focus on mutual support.
