The Opportunity

Our client is a premier European engineering group recognized for its expertise in high-alpine infrastructure and complex civil works. Their Chur-based division is a regional leader in the lifecycle management of bridges and structural assets. They are currently seeking a technically minded Civil Engineer to lead mandates from initial concept through to final inauguration, ensuring the longevity and safety of Switzerland's transport network.

The Role

This position is designed for an engineer who excels in the analytical side of structural design. You will be responsible for the structural integrity of both new bridge constructions and the complex renovation of existing civil assets.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution: Manage new build and rehabilitation projects within the bridge sector, maintaining technical oversight from the design phase to commissioning.
  • Technical Consultation: Resolve complex planning and structural queries, acting as the technical "anchor" for the project duration.
  • Structural Analysis: Develop innovative static solutions and produce verifiable calculations for load-bearing structures according to Swiss SIA standards.
  • BIM Modelling Coordination: Work in tandem with digital draftsmen to translate static concepts into high-precision 3D models and execution plans.

Your Professional Background

  • Education: A university degree in Civil Engineering (ETH/FH or equivalent).
  • Technical Focus: Proven expertise in structural engineering, with a specific interest in bridge design or heavy civil works.
  • Analytical Mindset: A strong passion for structural mechanics and the precision required for complex static calculations.
  • Personal Attributes: A communicative, solution-oriented professional with a keen eye for project costs and a customer-focused approach.
  • Languages: Professional-level fluency in German is required. Knowledge of additional languages (such as Romansh, Italian, or English) is an advantage given the regional and international context.

Benefits & Career Development

  • Regional & National Reach: Engage in challenging projects that define the infrastructure of the Grisons and beyond.
  • Digital Advancement: Deepen your practical knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling) within a specialized infrastructure context.
  • Interdisciplinary Network: Benefit from collaboration within a broad multidisciplinary environment, providing exposure to tunnelling, geotechnics, and environmental engineering.
  • Tailored Career Paths: Structured support to evolve into a Senior Project Manager, a Subject Matter Expert (SME), or a Lead Construction Manager.
  • Modern Flexibility: A results-driven culture offering flexible working hours and robust options for remote/mobile work.
  • Expert Mentorship: Direct access to a pool of senior specialists and project leads to support your professional journey.
