The Role
Our client is a distinguished European engineering firm recognized for its specialized expertise in Swiss railway and tunnel construction. They are currently seeking a Senior Lead Project Engineer to join their Zurich-based infrastructure division.
This position is uniquely designed for a high-level technical expert who prefers structural design and engineering excellence over heavy administrative project management. The role focuses on the technical "heart" of the project: solving complex structural puzzles and guiding a production team to success.
Your Impact
- Technical Design Lead: Directing the structural engineering solutions for diverse, large-scale railway and civil engineering projects from planning through to commissioning.
- Mentorship & Production: Providing technical leadership and coaching to a team of junior engineers, BIM modelers, and draftsmen, ensuring the highest quality of technical output.
- Specialist Design: Focusing on the development of innovative load-bearing structures for the rail sector, minimizing the administrative burden to allow for deep technical work.
- Digital Excellence: Leading the implementation of VDC and BIM methodologies within the infrastructure domain.
- Interdisciplinary Sync: Collaborating with specialists across various technical departments to deliver holistic, integrated infrastructure solutions.
Profile Requirements
- Education: A university degree in Civil Engineering (ETH, FH, or equivalent).
- Experience: Several years of proven success in the design and planning of Swiss infrastructure, specifically within the rail or tunnel sectors.
- Digital Skills: A strong affinity for modern planning tools and a solid foundation in BIM/VDC workflows.
- Soft Skills: An independent, efficient work style coupled with a passion for teaching and a communicative, team-oriented personality.
- Languages: Native-level or professional fluency in German (written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a significant asset.
Why This Opportunity?
- Technical Focus: A role specifically structured to let you focus on engineering rather than bureaucracy.
- Career Growth: Transparent development paths toward becoming a Subject Matter Expert or a Technical Team Lead.
- Work-Life Integration: A modern culture offering high flexibility, including work-from-home options and state-of-the-art office infrastructure in Zurich.
- Complex Mandates: The chance to work on some of Switzerland’s most challenging and high-visibility infrastructure projects.
- Continuous Learning: Access to senior mentorship and specialized further training in digital construction and advanced engineering.
