Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client's manufacturing operations team in Umm Al Quwain, UAE. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and reliability of all mechanical equipment and systems critical to the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scheduled preventive maintenance (PPM), fault analysis, equipment modernization, and upholding strict quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Reliability and Maintenance Management

  • Organize and execute work related to the rational operation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of all mechanical equipment, machinery, automated lines, and the mechanical components of technological equipment, following manufacturer technical documentation.
  • Develop and implement Scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PPM) plans, inspection schedules, and repair lists for mechanical assets.
  • Provide technical oversight and support to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of both scheduled and current repairs.
  • Participate in the acceptance, adjustment, testing, and installation of new technological equipment and the modernization/replacement of inefficient machinery.

Performance Analysis and Optimization

  • Study and analyze the operating conditions and modes of process equipment to identify the causes of premature wear, and analyze the causes and duration of downtime related to the mechanical condition of the equipment.
  • Develop and implement advanced methods for the repair and restoration of components and parts to increase equipment service life, reduce downtime, and improve repair quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor and control the quality of repair, maintenance, and modernization work performed on all types of equipment.
  • Participate in checking equipment for technical accuracy and establishing optimal operating modes for effective use.

Inventory, Documentation, and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of the total worked time, operating time up to wear for critical spare parts (both original and analogues), and usage statistics.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory (MIN/MAX) for mechanical components, conduct market research for manufacturing/purchasing, and manage related contracts for supply and 3D modelling of parts.
  • Organize and maintain comprehensive technical documentation (passports, safety data sheets, operating/repair instructions, spare parts catalogs) for all mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure the organization of work for the inspection of lifting mechanisms, pressure vessels, and other objects subject to state supervision.
  • Provide technical management for lubrication and emulsion facilities and introduce progressive consumption rates for related materials.

Health, Safety, and Quality (HSQ)

  • Ensure strict compliance with all occupational health and safety rules and company procedures during repair work.
  • Participate in the development of goals and measures for the implementation and functioning of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001).
  • Develop and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documents (ISO 9001) within the scope of competence.

Required Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate must possess a deep understanding of:

  • PPM Systems: Comprehensive knowledge of the system of scheduled preventive maintenance and the rational operation of process equipment.
  • Technical Specifications: Detailed knowledge of technical characteristics, design features, purpose, and operating rules of manufacturing equipment.
  • Standards & Regulations: Familiarity with relevant regulatory legal acts, local labor legislation, and the foundational requirements of ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety).
  • Repair Technology: Organization and technology of repair works, including equipment installation, adjustment, and commissioning methods.
  • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose defects, assess the possibility of repair/restoration of spare parts, and prepare necessary documentation (e.g., defective certificates).
  • Documentation: Expertise in drawing up equipment passports, operating instructions, defect lists, and specifications.
  • Digital Tools: Proficiency with computer equipment and communications for data processing, reporting, and documentation storage.

  • Location: Umm Al Quwain, UAE.
  • Working Days & Hours: As per the Labor Law of Umm Al Quwain, UAE.
  • Reporting: The role involves close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and departmental managers.
