Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and supervision of mechanical systems within construction and building services projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, industry standards, and local regulations in Qatar. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills in both Arabic and English, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
- Develop detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and calculations using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, etc.).
- Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to determine project requirements.
- Ensure designs comply with local regulations (Qatar Construction Specifications, QCDD, etc.) and international standards.
- Prepare and review material submittals and shop drawings.
Project Execution & Supervision:
- Supervise the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems on-site.
- Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Conduct quality control inspections and resolve technical issues.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (civil, electrical, architectural) to ensure seamless project integration.
- Manage and liaise with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Conduct testing and balancing of completed systems.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare progress reports, as-built drawings, and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of all project activities and documentation.
- Ensure all works are done according to the project specifications.
- Resolve Request for Information (RFI's)
Communication & Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Present technical information clearly and concisely in both Arabic and English.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical support.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction and building services industry in Qatar.
- Proven experience in the design and supervision of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Strong knowledge of local regulations and international standards.
- Proficiency in relevant software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of testing and balancing of systems.
- Valid Qatar Driving License.
- Valid Qatari Engineering Society membership.
